Nohoch Che’en Archaeological Reserve closed due to rising river levels

By Belize Live News Staff: The Institute of Archaeology has announced the temporary closure of the Nohoch Che’en Archaeological Reserve effective as of 7:10 a.m. today. The precautionary measure follows reports of rising river levels in the area.

The reserve, a popular attraction for water-based activities such as cave tubing, will remain closed until further notice. Officials emphasized that the decision is critical to ensure the safety of visitors and tour operators.

All other archaeological reserves across Belize remain open. However, the Institute is urging tour operators and guides to remain alert to changing weather conditions and to exercise caution, particularly during water-based activities.

Updates will be provided as conditions change.
