By Belize Live News Staff: Moist and relatively unstable conditions continue to affect Belize on this Independence Day, Sunday, September 21. Skies will remain mostly cloudy this morning with some sunny breaks this afternoon, followed by cloudy periods tonight.
A few showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms are expected mainly over northern areas this morning. Activity will decrease by mid-morning before redeveloping over northern and central regions later this afternoon through to early tonight.
Winds will be light and variable. Sea conditions are slight with waves between 1 and 3 feet.
Temperatures today are forecast at 85°F/78°F (29°C/26°C) along the coast, 88°F/73°F (31°C/23°C) inland, and 76°F/68°F (24°C/20°C) in the hills.
At 3:00 a.m., Tropical Storm Gabrielle was located near 27.2N, 60.0W or about 455 miles southeast of Bermuda. Gabrielle was moving north-northwest at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. The storm poses no threat to Belize.
Looking ahead, showers or thunderstorms will be isolated on Monday and early Monday night, with another increase in showers and thunderstorms expected late Monday night into Tuesday morning.
As Belize celebrates its 44th Independence Day, residents are advised to expect cloudy conditions with a few showers and possible thunderstorms, particularly in northern and central areas later today.
