Institute of Archaeology confirms sites open, urges caution for visitors

By Belize Live News Staff: The Institute of Archaeology has announced that all Archaeological Reserves, including cave sites across the country, remain open for visitation despite recent heavy rains.

The advisory was issued at 6:00 am on Thursday, September 18, 2025, noting that while the sites are open, caution must be exercised.

Tour operators and guides are being urged to remain vigilant, particularly during water-based and cave-related activities, where changing conditions could pose risks.

Officials emphasized the importance of heightened awareness as Belize continues to experience unstable weather patterns this week.

The Institute confirmed it will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates if circumstances change.
