By Belize Live News Staff: Forecasters are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Gabrielle as it moves steadily across the Atlantic, but Belize remains well outside of the system’s projected path.
At 3:00 am this morning, Gabrielle was located near latitude 20.0N and longitude 50.3W, placing it about 845 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands. The storm is advancing west-northwest at 15 miles per hour, carrying sustained winds of up to 50 mph.
While the system is showing signs of strength, its trajectory keeps it far from the western Caribbean. Meteorologists confirm that Gabrielle will not impact Belize and poses no current threat to the country.
Authorities are continuing to observe the storm’s progress, as part of standard monitoring of tropical systems during the hurricane season. Belizeans are being reassured that conditions locally remain unaffected.
The National Meteorological Service emphasizes that while Gabrielle will stay away from the region, residents should always remain alert during the peak months of the Atlantic hurricane season.
