By Belize Live News Staff: Moist and unstable weather conditions linger over Belize this Thursday morning as a tropical wave passes through.
The 24-hour forecast calls for cloudy skies with some sunny breaks during the day, becoming partly cloudy to cloudy tonight. Periods of rain, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms are expected across much of the country this morning, mainly along the coast and offshore.
Activity should ease slightly in the afternoon before redeveloping tonight, particularly over southern and coastal areas.
Marine conditions remain favorable for small craft, with light and variable winds.
The sea state is slight to light chop, producing wave heights of one to four feet. Daytime temperatures will peak near 85 degrees along the coast, 88 inland, and 79 in the hills. Minimum temperatures tonight will fall to 76 on the coast, 73 inland, and 67 in the mountains.
In the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Gabrielle was centered near latitude 20.0N and longitude 50.3W at 3:00 am this morning, or about 845 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands. Gabrielle is moving to the west-northwest at 15 miles per hour, packing maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.
The system does not pose a threat to Belize.
The extended outlook for Friday calls for skies to remain partly cloudy to cloudy at times. Showers and thunderstorms will be isolated, with slightly more activity expected over the south during the day and across most areas Friday night, especially the south.
