By Belize Live News Staff: A traffic accident that left two police constables injured has resulted in a string of criminal charges against a well-known Burns Avenue businessman.

Police identified the accused as 31-year-old Dijon McNab, who was charged this week after his vehicle allegedly struck a motorcycle carrying Constables Karen August and Kurlyn Hamilton on the George Price Highway.

The officers were traveling near miles 68 and 69 when the collision occurred. According to reports, Constable August was flung into a roadside ditch, suffering multiple cuts and bruises, while Constable Hamilton sustained head, arm, and facial injuries.

McNab now faces charges of Negligent Grievous Harm, Negligent Wounding, Driving Without Due Care, Failing to Keep Right, Failing to Stop and Render Aid, and Failing to Report an Accident.

Fundraisers have been organized in support of Constable August’s recovery.

Police say McNab has been remanded while their investigation into the crash continues.
