Delta flight makes emergency landing in Belize after engine trouble

By Belize Live News Staff: There was an unscheduled landing at the Philip Goldson International Airport this morning after a Delta Airlines flight reported engine problems while en route to Honduras.

Delta Flight Number 1782 was heading to San Pedro Sula from the United States when the right engine malfunctioned as the plane flew over Mérida, Mexico. The pilot issued a distress call to the Mérida Center, which coordinated with Belizean aviation officials.

The plane landed safely at 10:53 a.m. at PGIA. Emergency teams, including fire and rescue personnel, were on standby but were not required to intervene as the aircraft landed without incident.

All 162 passengers on board are safe and are currently being assisted at the PGIA while Delta arranges another flight to complete their journey.
