By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Policy Research Institute (BELPRI) at the University of Belize (UB) and the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration on data and research.

The agreement paves the way for information sharing, filling data gaps, joint publications, and joint research proposals. It also opens opportunities for training in areas such as survey design, data management, and policy analysis.

According to the partners, both UB faculty and students, as well as SIB staff, stand to benefit from the new cooperation.

The MOU was signed by SIB’s Director General, Ms. Diana Castillo-Trejo, BELPRI’s Executive Director, Dr. Dylan Vernon, and UB President, Dr. Vincent Palacio.

Officials emphasized that the initiative is intended to improve the use of evidence and research in shaping public policies in Belize.
