By Belize Live News Staff: An investigation is underway following the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Alex Miranda in Belize City on Sunday night.
According to police, Miranda was walking in his neighborhood when a male individual began firing shots at him. Though Miranda attempted to escape, he was chased down and shot several times.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero told reporters that police are pursuing a suspect in the case. However, he said the motive remains unknown. “We do not have a motive at this time. We are following several leads,” Romero explained.
Romero confirmed that the incident is not the same shooting in which two females were recently injured but would not rule out whether the cases could be connected.
Investigators revealed that the shooting happened in the London Bridge area, which has no surveillance cameras. At this time, no arrests have been made.
