Saturday forecast: Hot and sunny with isolated thunderstorms

Sunday weather in Belize: Fair skies and warm sunshine expected

By Belize Live News Staff: Mostly fair weather will dominate Belize today, but the National Meteorological Service warns that southern areas could see a few more showers tonight.

The 24-hour forecast calls for sunshine mixed with cloudy spells during the day and partly cloudy skies after nightfall. Showers and thunderstorms will be generally isolated except for a slight increase in the south later tonight.

Moderate easterly winds at 10 to 20 knots will keep seas choppy, with waves between 4 and 6 feet. Daytime highs will reach 95°F inland, 88°F along the coast, and 82°F in the hills, while nighttime lows fall to 73°F inland, 81°F on the coast, and 68°F in the hills.

In the wider tropics, two systems are being closely monitored. A tropical wave in the Atlantic (AL99) has a low chance of development as it moves westward, and a trough of low pressure northeast of the Leeward Islands (AL90) has a high chance of development over the next two days. Neither poses any current threat to Belize.

Forecasters say conditions will remain mostly fair through Sunday, with showers and thunderstorms increasing once again over the south by Sunday night.
