By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service reports that generally fair weather will dominate today’s conditions.
Belizeans can expect sunny skies with a few cloudy periods, while tonight should be mostly clear to partly cloudy. Only isolated showers or thunderstorms are forecast, with a few more likely inland and around the Maya Mountains later this afternoon.
Light and variable winds will keep the sea state slight and wave heights low at one to three feet. Daytime highs are forecast at 89°F along the coast, 95°F inland, and 83°F in the hills. Nighttime lows will fall to 82°F near the coast, 73°F inland, and 68°F in the higher elevations.
In the tropical weather outlook, Hurricane Erin was located 205 miles east-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, early this morning.
Erin is moving toward the north-northeast at 17 miles per hour and carries maximum sustained winds of 105 miles per hour. The storm poses no threat to Belize.
A separate tropical wave several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing showers and thunderstorms. Conditions are only marginally favorable for development and the system currently poses no threat to the country.
For Friday and Friday night, forecasters expect fair weather to persist with only a few showers or thunderstorms developing. Southern areas may see a slight increase Friday night.
Today’s high tide occurred at 8:19 a.m. and will return at 9:39 p.m., while low tide will be at 3:39 p.m. and again at 2:40 a.m. on Friday. Sunrise was at 5:36 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:14 p.m.
The moon will set at 5:23 p.m. today and rise tomorrow at 4:59 a.m.
