A heat alert has been issued, urging residents to stay hydrated, seek shade, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon hours.
The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with brief cloudy spells, and only isolated showers are expected. There is, however, a medium chance of afternoon thunderstorms developing over the Maya Mountains. Tonight will remain mostly clear to partly cloudy.
Mariners will experience calm seas, as winds will be light and variable, keeping the sea state slight with waves between 1 and 3 feet.
Coastal temperatures are forecast to peak at 90°F (32°C), dropping to 77°F (25°C) at night, while the hills will be cooler at 80°F (27°C) during the day and 68°F (20°C) at night.
Looking toward the Atlantic, Hurricane Erin continues to churn northwest of the Caribbean with sustained winds of 130 mph. As of this morning, the storm was located near 23.1N, 70.5W—about 115 miles north-northeast of Grand Turk Island. Forecasters emphasize that Erin poses no threat to Belize.
Similar warm and fair conditions are expected to continue into Tuesday and Tuesday night.
