UDP mourns passing of Hon. Arthur “Turo” Roches

By Belize Live News Staff: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has announced with deep sadness the passing of the Arthur “Turo” “Pa Tur” Roches, a beloved son of Dangriga and former Area Representative.

In his younger years, Pa Tur made his mark as a star footballer, placing Dangriga and the Stann Creek District firmly on Belize’s football map. Known as a force to be reckoned with on the field, he inspired pride in his community through his sporting achievements.

Roches dedicated decades of service to the people of Belize as a public officer across various ministries and departments. His career culminated with his election as Area Representative for Dangriga, serving as Minister of State in the Ministry of Health under the administration of former Prime Minister Dean Barrow.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Simmons Roches, a beloved primary school teacher whom he fondly “stole” from the west and brought home to Dangriga.

The UDP extended sincere condolences to Roches’ family, friends, and the people of Dangriga, honoring his legacy as a public servant, colleague, and friend. They also expressed prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
