By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service has issued a weather update indicating that generally fair conditions currently prevailing over Belize will gradually give way to increased moisture and rain by tonight and into Friday.
Forecaster Tareek Matthews noted that today’s weather will be mostly sunny with occasional cloudy spells. While showers and thunderstorms will be generally isolated, there’s a medium chance for activity to increase over northern and central areas during the late morning and afternoon hours. These areas are being monitored for potential localized downpours, though the overall weather will remain calm for much of the day.
The big change comes tonight, when conditions along coastal and southern Belize are expected to become more unstable. An increase in showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms is forecast as moisture levels rise, setting the stage for a wetter Friday.
Winds remain light and variable, leading to a light chop on coastal waters with wave heights of 2 to 4 feet. Temperatures will be hot and humid today, with inland areas reaching highs of 93°F, coastal areas at 88°F, and the hills cooler at 80°F. Overnight lows will fall to 72°F inland, 82°F on the coast, and 67°F in higher elevations.
Friday’s forecast looks wetter overall, with skies turning mostly cloudy to overcast and periods of rain, showers, and isolated thunderstorms expected across the country. While there are no tropical cyclones anticipated in the North Atlantic Basin over the next 48 hours, the increase in regional moisture suggests conditions should be watched closely.
