By Belize Live News Staff: 75 inmates at the Belize Central Prison have graduated from rehabilitation programs offered by the Kolbe Foundation. The emotional ceremony marked a milestone for the men and women who completed intensive courses in addiction recovery, trauma healing, and gang intervention.
The Kolbe Foundation, which manages Belize Central Prison, continues to set the regional standard for rehabilitation-centered incarceration. Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa attended the ceremony and commended the graduates for taking meaningful steps toward personal transformation.
“You’ve chosen to break the cycle. You’ve chosen healing. And that is a victory worth celebrating,” Musa said during his remarks.
Facilitators and families joined in recognizing the determination of the participants, many of whom said the program changed their mindset, goals, and outlook on life. The initiative is part of a broader push to prioritize rehabilitation over punishment and reduce recidivism in Belize.
