By Belize Live News Staff: UDP Leader Shyne Barrow made waves this morning during an appearance on Channel 5’s Open Your Eyes, where he firmly declared that he will not give up his bid to remain Area Representative for Mesopotamia.
Barrow said that while he is willing to make some sacrifices for party unity, stepping aside from Mesopotamia is not on the table. “This is about my people, not party politics,” he said. “I am not abandoning them.”
The statement comes amid ongoing internal UDP power struggles, with Barrow’s leadership contested by members seeking new direction and alliances. Despite this, Barrow doubled down, asserting his divine conviction and support from the people as his driving force.
His resolve appears to be a message not just to the public, but also to his critics within the UDP: he’s not stepping aside.
