Ministry of Home Affairs condemns murder of Evadnie and Luke Jones

By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries has strongly condemned the tragic killing of 66-year-old Evadnie Jones and her 39-year-old son, Luke Jones, who were shot and killed at their Cedar Street home in Belize City on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Minister Kareem Musa called the act “cold-blooded” and “despicable,” emphasizing there is no justification for the murder of innocent civilians. Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado vowed justice, saying the Belize Police Department will not rest until those responsible are caught.

The Ministry also highlighted the urgency of tougher gun and gang legislation and reaffirmed support for the Leadership Intervention Unit (LIU) as part of its long-term peace strategy. The public is urged to assist law enforcement and report any information to Crime Stoppers or the nearest police station.
