By Belize Live News Staff: Allan Sharp, President of the Belize Volleyball Association, has been elected as the new President of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (BOCGA). The elections were held on June 28 during the National Olympic Committee’s Annual General Meeting. Sharp succeeds Hilberto Martinez, who had served in the role since 2013.
Sharp has been a central figure in Belizean sports leadership for more than a decade. He has led the Belize Volleyball Association since 2008 and served as Secretary General of BOCGA from 2017 until his recent election as President. His track record includes expanding volleyball programs nationwide and promoting Belizean athletes on the international stage.
Alongside Sharp, a new executive board has been elected and will serve a four-year term through 2029. The new leadership team includes Herman Pastor as Vice President, Giovanni Alamilla as Secretary General, Sharon Hardwick as Assistant Secretary General, and Arturo Vasquez as Treasurer. Also elected as Executive Members were Kaya Cattouse, Raul Rosado, and Leticia Westby.
The new board begins its term with a mandate to promote excellence, strengthen unity across the sporting community, and support the ongoing development of sports in Belize. The leadership is expected to build on the momentum of recent progress both nationally and through Belize’s participation in regional and international competitions.
