By Belize Live News Staff: Benque Viejo police are investigating a traffic accident that led to multiple DUI arrests and the discovery of suspected illegal drugs.
The incident happened between miles 76 and 77 on the George Price Highway, near Mopan Gas Station. Officers responded to the scene and found a grey Toyota Tundra parked on the highway with a damaged black Lifan 200 motorcycle behind it.
Inside the pickup were Wilser Quixchan, 33, and Julio Tut, 23, both construction workers of Succotz Village. The motorcycle was driven by Anthony Pop. Police say Quixchan and Pop appeared highly intoxicated.
All three men were detained, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a school bag containing a black and yellow plastic bag with a white powdery substance believed to be drugs.
Lab tests are pending, and charges are expected.
