By Belize Live News Staff: U.S. President Donald Trump blasted Israel’s military response following the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran—one he himself had brokered just hours earlier.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump expressed disappointment in what he called a “provocative overreaction” by Israel.
“Israel, as soon as we made a deal, they came out and dropped the biggest load of bombs we’ve ever seen,” Trump said, visibly irritated. “I’m not happy with Israel.”
He noted that only one rocket was fired—apparently after the ceasefire time had passed—and that it did not even cause damage.
“There was one rocket that didn’t even land anywhere,” he said. “These guys have got to calm down.”
Trump, who earlier this week announced a “complete and total” ceasefire deal between the two archrivals, hinted that Israel’s decision to bomb Iran almost immediately after the deal was a betrayal of diplomatic progress.
“I didn’t like plenty of things I saw yesterday,” he said, adding that Israel “didn’t have to unload” its military might so soon.
Capping off his comments, Trump offered a scathing summary of the entire conflict: “We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing.”
As a peaceful nation that has long advocated for diplomacy and conflict resolution, Belizeans have reason to be concerned. The continuation of hostilities in the Middle East could destabilize international markets, increase oil prices, and disrupt the global economy—issues that inevitably affect Belize’s import costs, tourism, and development
