By Belize Live News Staff: Lee Mark Chang is raising eyebrows and tough questions. The Mesopotamia representative has issued a stern call to the government: explain what has happened to the $55 million tourism bond.
“Since 2022, nothing—no report, no figures, no project list,” Chang stated. He warned that the bond’s silence is deafening, especially now as tourism industry projections signal a downturn, worsened by reduced American travel.
While government officials trumpet their achievements in infrastructure, Chang argued that tourism-related spending remains suspiciously quiet. “We don’t know what was done, what was used, or who got what. What are we hiding?” he asked.
He further demanded full transparency: How much of the bond has been used? Which contractors were selected? Were proper procurement procedures followed?
His message was clear: the public deserves answers, and the tourism industry deserves the promised investment.
