By Belize Live News Staff: A calm, dry Tuesday is in store for most of Belize, but a flicker of rain may visit parts of the Toledo District tonight. The National Meteorological Service says that aside from a few isolated thunderstorms in the far south, most of the country will remain sunny, hot, and dry.
Coastal residents will experience temperatures around 90°F, while inland areas continue to cook under soaring highs of up to 98°F. Meanwhile, the hill regions will offer slightly cooler comfort, but not by much. This extreme heat has prompted an official advisory warning Belizeans, particularly those in Cayo and Orange Walk, to limit outdoor activity, especially between midday and 3 PM.
Out at sea, boaters and fishermen are being urged to proceed with caution. Gusty winds and choppy waters have triggered a small craft caution, as waves could range from 5 to 7 feet. With these marine conditions, water excursions should be planned with extra care.
Though relief is minimal, nighttime lows will dip to the low 80s along the coast and mid-70s inland. Still, it may not be enough to cool off homes that have absorbed the day’s heat.
Wednesday will likely bring more of the same: warm sunshine and only a slim chance of relief by way of an isolated shower. Until then, Belizeans are reminded to take the heat seriously—it’s shaping up to be one of the hottest stretches of the dry season yet.
