New airlines, record months boost Belize’s tourism outlook

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize continues to chart a strong path for tourism in 2025, even as economic uncertainty in the U.S. raises questions across the region.

Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler remains upbeat. “We’ve already seen record-breaking numbers in January, February, and April,” he shared after holding discussions with the U.S. Embassy and major international airlines. “There’s every indication that things will pick up again after June.”

Mahler explained that March saw a modest decline in arrivals compared to last year — a result of Easter falling in April this year. But overall, he said, the trend remains positive.

What’s more, Belize is looking beyond traditional source markets. Mahler pointed to new opportunities in Mexico, Canada, and South America, supported by better airlift and pending airline agreements.

“We have contracts on the table,” he revealed, “and if all goes as planned, we’ll see new carriers operating in Belize before the end of the year.”

With strategic positioning and a continued focus on expanding routes, Belize is aiming not just to maintain — but to grow — its tourism success in the face of global headwinds.
