Government of Belize addresses union concerns in open letter to union leaders

By Belize Live News Staff: In response to concerns raised by Belizean unions, Prime Minister John Briceño has outlined the government’s commitment to addressing key issues raised by the Public Service Union, Belize National Teacher’s Union, and the Association of Public Service Senior Managers.

The Prime Minister’s letter, dated May 6, 2025, highlighted that Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde and other Cabinet ministers, including Francis Fonseca, Oscar Requena, Henry Charles-Usher, and Chris Coye, will be involved in discussions with the unions. The talks will focus on solutions for revenue enhancement, pension reform, and cost-saving measures.

The government has pledged continued engagement with the unions and emphasized the importance of working together to move Belize forward. Prime Minister Briceño assured that the government remains committed to resolving the pressing issues while fostering a strong partnership with public sector unions.
