By Belize Live News Staff: In a heartfelt tribute to outgoing Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, two talented young Belizean artists created a powerful portrait titled “It’s Not Done,” unveiled during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Commissioner, Dr. Richard Rosado.
The piece was painted by Judia Young and Raquel Rodriguez, who worked together to bring the former Commissioner’s image to life. Young was responsible for painting the face, while Rodriguez completed the rest of the uniform, hat, and background, as well as an additional mural in the surrounding space.
Young expressed her excitement on social media, calling the experience one that would stay with her for a lifetime. “This piece will stand here for the rest of my lifetime and maybe even my children’s lifetime,” she wrote, crediting Rodriguez’s role in tying the entire piece together.
The portrait not only celebrates Commissioner Williams’ many years of service but also showcases the rising talent of Belize’s young creatives. The artwork now serves as a lasting symbol of gratitude and artistic expression within the Belize Police Department.
