Robbery gone wrong: Gunshots ring out at mini shop

By Belize Live News Staff: A quiet evening turned violent on April 30 when two masked men attempted to rob a mini shop in Lord’s Bank Village, opening fire on the person managing the business.

Authorities say the shooting happened just after 9:00 p.m. while the businessman was locking up the shop for the night. As he exited through a side entrance, he was ambushed by two masked attackers. One of them opened fire, striking the man.

He was able to retreat into the shop and lock the door behind him, likely preventing further harm. The shooters quickly fled in the direction of the river.

Police arrived shortly after, processed the scene, and recovered a 9mm shell casing. No useful information has been obtained so far from nearby residents or businesses.

The victim was taken to the hospital and remains in stable condition. Police continue to investigate, with the suspects still at large.
