By Belize Live News Staff: A Canadian national has died in San Pedro under mysterious circumstances, prompting a full police investigation.
Around 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, police responded to reports of a body behind the Water Mark Hotel, about a quarter-mile north of San Pedro Town. Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of 47-year-old Loran Dale Radchenko lying behind the hotel, suffering from apparent head injuries consistent with a fall.
Police reports indicate Radchenko had checked into the hotel late Saturday night with a female companion. Two men later visited the room, but all three left him alone shortly before 5:00 a.m. Surveillance footage shows Radchenko falling from the third floor of the hotel around 7:53 a.m.
Investigators processed the scene, reviewed surveillance footage, and inspected the room, which showed no evidence of struggle or foul play. Several beer bottles were found inside.
Three San Pedro residents — Ruth Esthephani Poot, Justin Campos, and Miguel Campos — have been brought in for questioning as authorities work to establish a clearer timeline of events.
The case remains under investigation.
