Man stung to death by killer bees

By Belize Live News Staff: A Toledo family is in mourning after a horrifying bee attack on Monday afternoon claimed the life of 57-year-old Japy Neldo Perez Sr. The tragic incident unfolded around 3:00 p.m.  in San Pedro Columbia Village while Perez and several others were working on a local farm.

According to eyewitnesses, the group was suddenly swarmed by aggressive bees—believed to be Africanized honey bees, commonly referred to as “killer bees.” The workers ran for safety, but Perez reportedly fell during the panic and was unable to escape. He was stung multiple times.

Perez, a father of two and well-known community member, was quickly transported to the  Punta Gorda Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
