Heat grips Belize as cold front looms on the horizon

As Belize enjoys one last day under warm and dry skies, weather changes are on the way.

By Belize Live News Staff: As Belize enjoys one last day under warm and dry skies, weather changes are on the way. A cold front set to reach the country by Monday will bring a welcomed break from the relentless heat.

Today’s conditions are governed by a strong east to southeast airflow, contributing to high temperatures, gusty winds, and generally fair weather. But with a Small Craft Warning in effect, coastal conditions remain hazardous, with waves expected between 6 to 8 feet and winds up to 25 knots.

Daytime temperatures inland are forecast to climb to 96°F (36°C), with nighttime lows dipping into the mid-70s. Coastal areas remain humid, with highs around 89°F (32°C) and nighttime temperatures at 81°F (27°C).

The evening could bring localized thunderstorms over the Maya Mountains, but widespread rainfall is not anticipated until Monday, when the advancing cold front is expected to trigger showers, isolated thunderstorms, and patchy rain across the country.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated today and prepare for possible weather changes heading into the new week.
