By Belize Live News Staff: Belize Police Commissioner Chester Williams has confirmed that a man wanted in the United States for child pornography offenses was recently captured in Placencia and is now in custody, awaiting deportation.
The individual, identified as Gregory Roth, had been living under the alias “Christopher” while evading U.S. authorities. Acting on a wanted bulletin issued by the U.S. Embassy, Belizean police moved swiftly to track down and detain Roth last week.
Commissioner Williams stated, “The police in Placencia, along with support from our specialized units, located and detained the fugitive who was wanted in the U.S. for child pornography. He is currently in custody, and I believe deportation should happen very soon, if it hasn’t already.”
Williams emphasized the importance of international cooperation in such cases, noting that Roth’s arrest is the result of joint efforts between Belizean law enforcement and U.S. agencies. “We continue to work with our U.S. counterparts and other international partners to ensure that fugitives who seek refuge in Belize are brought to justice,” he said.
