City Council removes banner, OMG Café puts it back up

By Belize Live News Staff: OMG Café is pushing back against Belize City Council’s enforcement department, which recently removed its banner as part of new aesthetic regulations. According to City Hall, the rules prohibit businesses from hanging banners on railings, requiring them to use metal signs instead.

However, the café’s proprietors have reinstalled the banner twice since its removal, displaying open defiance of the council’s directive. Despite having it taken down once more, the owners put it back up the following day, continuing their resistance against what they see as an unfair restriction on their business.

City Hall has stated that all tenants must follow the newly introduced business directory guidelines and has not yet announced any further enforcement actions. Whether the café will continue to challenge the directive remains to be seen.
