Gunmen on motorcycle open fire in Jane Usher area, flee scene

By Belize Live News Staff: A gun battle erupted in the Jane Usher area on Monday night, with police recovering expended shells and a bullet slug from a nearby house, though no injuries have been reported.

The incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m., when two men on a black dirt bike, both wearing black, crossed paths with a grey Pontiac G6 sedan on Park Street. Gunfire erupted between the two vehicles, leaving multiple bullet holes on the car’s body, rear glass, and bumper, and one round striking a house on Curl Thompson Street.

The driver of the sedan immediately sped off toward the Jane Usher Police Booth, while the suspects on the motorcycle fled the scene in the opposite direction. Police officers attempted to chase down the gunmen but were unsuccessful in their pursuit.

Investigators later retrieved 10 expended shells from the street and recovered a bullet slug from the damaged home. The Pontiac G6 has yet to undergo forensic examination.

Police have not confirmed any arrests, and investigations remain ongoing.
