Jewish men convicted in Belize, sent back to Guatemala

By Belize Live News Staff: Three Jewish men caught illegally in Santa Elena, Cayo, were convicted in the San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court and deported to Guatemala.

Avron Dinkel and Chaim Malka were found guilty of aiding in the commission of an offense, while Moshe Yhidia Alter was charged with illegal entry. They paid a $1,000 fine each and were allowed to return to Guatemala, where two of them reportedly have pending arrest warrants.

Authorities are probing possible links to Lev Tahor, a controversial sect facing legal trouble across the region. Belizean officials are tightening border security as investigations continue.
