Robbery near Phillip Goldson Highway: Gunmen steal laptop, phones, and cash

By Belize Live News Staff: In a bold daylight robbery, a woman and her mother were held at gunpoint by four armed men who made off with cash, electronics, and valuables worth $8,000 BZD. The terrifying heist took place on Monday around 4:20 PM on Captain Eiley Street, just as the victims were driving towards the Philip Goldson Highway.

They were traveling in their black Toyota Rav4 when a silver-colored vehicle suddenly came to a complete stop in front of them. Four men quickly exited the vehicle, and one suspect, armed with a gun, approached the driver’s side and demanded money while removing the car keys from the ignition.

While the mother was being threatened, another assailant opened the front passenger door and snatched a red strap bag, which contained a laptop, two cellphones, and a total of $3,500 BZD in cash. The gunmen then jumped back into their getaway car and sped off in the direction of Philip Goldson Highway, escaping without a trace.

Police were called to the scene and searched the area for clues. Investigators discovered that security cameras were in the vicinity, and surveillance footage is being reviewed in hopes of identifying the suspects.

Residents in the area were left alarmed by the violent nature of the attack, as criminals continue to target individuals in broad daylight. Police have urged anyone with information to report it to authorities as the investigation continues.
