Police investigating crashed D-Max found abandoned in Hope Creek

By Belize Live News Staff: Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding a wrecked and abandoned Isuzu D-Max that was found submerged in a roadside drain near Hope Creek.

Authorities were alerted to the scene around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and discovered the heavily damaged pickup between miles 29 and 30 on the Coastal Plains Highway. The vehicle, which bears Stann Creek license plates, had apparently smashed through roadside barriers before crashing into the drain.

Despite the extensive damage—including a broken windshield, multiple dents, and all four doors damaged—police found no driver or passengers at the scene. It is unknown if the driver fled the scene or was picked up before officers arrived.

The circumstances of the crash remain unclear, and police are working to identify the owner of the vehicle and determine if anyone was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
