Cloudy skies and isolated showers expected across Belize

Unsettled weather continues into Christmas night

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize will experience cloudy spells today as a northeasterly airflow continues to influence weather conditions across the country. The Belize Meteorological Service forecasts generally fair weather with isolated showers, though slightly more rain is expected over southern areas this morning, inland regions this afternoon, and along the coast later tonight.

Marine conditions remain moderate, with east-northeast winds blowing at 10-15 knots. The sea state will be choppy, and wave heights are expected to range from 3 to 5 feet. Small craft operators should exercise caution when venturing into open waters.

Temperatures will be warm and mild. Coastal areas will see daytime highs of 84°F (29°C) and nighttime lows of 75°F (24°C). Inland areas will be slightly hotter, peaking at 86°F (30°C) before cooling to 71°F (20°C) overnight. In the hills, conditions will be cooler, with highs reaching 72°F (22°C) and lows of 65°F (18°C).

The outlook for Wednesday and Wednesday night suggests a slight increase in showers, with brief rainfall expected across various parts of the country.

Today’s tidal activity includes a low tide at 8:04 AM, a high tide at 2:09 PM, and another low tide at 9:42 PM. Tomorrow’s early high tide is forecast for 3:48 AM. Sunrise occurred at 6:23 AM, and sunset is expected at 5:49 PM. The moon will rise at 10:47 AM today and set at 12:03 AM tomorrow.

Forecaster Francisca Wellington advises residents and visitors to be prepared for occasional showers throughout the day, particularly in inland and coastal regions. Boaters and fishermen should take note of the choppy sea conditions when heading out on the water.
