Department of Youth Services receives $50,000 grant to tackle climate change

By Belize Live News Staff: The Department of Youth Services (DYS) has received a $50,000 grant from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to promote climate change awareness and action among Belizean youth.

The funding supports youth-centered initiatives, including community events, digital campaigns, and educational forums aimed at equipping young people with knowledge and tools to combat climate change.

Key highlights include the “Our Future, Our Planet: Digital Pathway to Combat Climate Change” campaign, which engaged students from eleven Belize district schools in creative climate action projects, and the Climate Change Youth Forum held in Corozal. The forum brought together students, conservation organizations, and local leaders to discuss innovative climate solutions.

Through these efforts, the DYS continues to empower Belizean youth to lead the charge for a sustainable future.
