By Belize Live News Staff: Belize is bracing for another day of unsettled weather, with relatively moist and unstable conditions dominating the forecast for today. The Belize Meteorological Service predicts cloudy skies with sunny breaks during the day, transitioning to cloudy skies overnight. Showers, light rain, and isolated thunderstorms are expected to affect central and coastal areas in the morning before spreading to most parts of the country by the afternoon. While a brief decrease in rainfall is anticipated this evening, activity will resume later tonight as a cold front approaches.
Marine conditions are expected to remain choppy to moderate throughout the day. Winds will blow from the east-southeast at 5-15 knots, and wave heights are forecast to range from 3 to 6 feet, potentially impacting smaller vessels as conditions change with the advancing weather system.
Temperatures will be seasonably mild across the country. Coastal regions are forecast to reach highs of 82°F (28°C) and drop to 73°F (23°C) overnight. Inland areas will be slightly warmer, with highs of 83°F (28°C) and lows of 71°F (22°C). In the hills, daytime highs will peak at 70°F (21°C), while nighttime lows will cool to 64°F (18°C).
The outlook for Wednesday and Wednesday night suggests mostly cloudy skies and cooler conditions, with showers lingering across the mainland in the morning and early afternoon before tapering off by the evening. Coastal and offshore areas may still see some rainfall activity into the night.
Tidal activity for today includes a low tide at 8:56 AM, a high tide at 2:53 PM, and another low tide at 10:39 PM. Tomorrow’s early high tide is forecast for 4:13 AM. Sunrise was at 6:26 AM, and sunset will be at 5:41 PM. The moon will set at 11:18 AM and rise again at 12:21 AM on Wednesday.
Forecaster Tareek Matthews encourages residents and visitors to plan for showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon and evening. The approaching cold front is expected to bring additional rainfall overnight, adding to the current unstable conditions.
