By Belize Live News Staff: Early this morning, commuters aboard a Tillet’s bus experienced a moment of alarm as the vehicle ran off the roundabout at the Crooked Tree junction. The incident occurred around 6:30 AM when the 5:30 AM bus, en route to Corozal, lost control at the roundabout, striking a post and a road sign.
Eyewitnesses say the driver appeared to misjudge the turn, resulting in the vehicle veering off the road. Despite the collision, none of the approximately 10 passengers onboard sustained injuries. The bus came to a stop after knocking over a metal post and crashing into a road sign, leaving visible damage to the area.
Authorities were notified, and initial reports suggest driver error as a possible cause of the incident. The scene was cleared quickly, allowing the morning commute to resume without significant delays.
Passengers expressed relief that no one was harmed, with one commuter stating, “It was a frightening moment, but we’re all thankful it wasn’t worse.”
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, and the damaged infrastructure will likely require repair in the coming days.
