By Belize Live News Staff: In a recent interview on Love FM’s Morning Show, Prime Minister John Briceño spoke about the upcoming general elections in Belize, set to take place this year. The PM emphasized that the decision regarding the election timeline is being guided by various factors, including the Government’s ongoing commitment to its Plan Belize agenda.
Prime Minister Briceño highlighted that if the decision were purely political, the election might have been called last year, as suggested by some cabinet members and opposition voices. He stated, “The UDP are saying call the election and take us out of our misery. They say we know we will lose but then we can move on.”
Despite this pressure, PM Briceño reiterated the administration’s focus on serving the Belizean people and delivering on promises made under Plan Belize. The Prime Minister made it clear that the government remains fully engaged in advancing key initiatives that aim to bring development and progress to the nation.
The exact date of the general election remains to be announced, as the government continues its work to prioritize the needs of the people over political considerations.
