Argument over money leads to stabbing in Belize City

By Belize Live News Staff: A Belize City man is recovering after being stabbed during a confrontation on Saturday night on Cemetery Road, shortly after the Love FM Christmas parade.

According to police reports, 44-year-old Elmer Blair was in front of the Vin Fa shopping center when he was approached by an unknown man who asked for money to buy a drink. Blair declined, stating he did not have money, which led to an argument.

During the altercation, the man pulled a pocket knife from his pants and stabbed Blair.

Blair was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where medical personnel treated him for injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening.

Police have detained one suspect in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
