By Belize Live News Staff: Miriam Cordon tragically lost her life in a highway collision on Monday night. The accident occurred between mile 25 and 26 on the George Price Highway when a white Ford Econoline van collided with the rear of the vehicle she was traveling in.
Cordon and two others, Joshua Magana and Angel Pastrana, were injured in the crash. While being transported to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), Cordon succumbed to her injuries. The other occupants remain hospitalized.
The van’s driver, Leroy Nunez, is suspected of driving under the influence and has been charged with “manslaughter by negligence,” “causing death by careless conduct,” and other offenses. Police investigations are ongoing.
