By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Immigration has issued a sharp response to remarks made by journalist Jules Vasquez regarding alleged scandals within the Ministry, calling the claims sensationalist and not reflective of ongoing investigative efforts.
In a monologue aired on Monday, Vasquez criticized the Ministry for its handling of corruption investigations, suggesting that a press conference was the “rational course of action.” The Ministry has firmly rejected this notion, emphasizing its commitment to integrity and transparency within the bounds of ongoing proceedings.
“Our Ministry, under the Office of the Prime Minister, cannot be guided by the same sensationalism that seems to drive Mr. Vasquez,” the Ministry stated. “We remain focused on credible, careful, and comprehensive investigations into these serious allegations of security breaches and public officer complicity.”
The Ministry assured the public that every effort is being made to root out corruption, stating that premature disclosures could jeopardize sensitive investigations and potential legal action.
“Information will be disclosed to the people of Belize at a prudent time, ensuring justice is not compromised,” the statement continued.
In collaboration with the Belize Police Department and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Ministry reiterated its resolve to uphold public trust and urged Vasquez to allow due process to unfold.
