By Belize Live News Staff: The small island community of Caye Caulker is rallying after a serious traffic accident involving the Ocean Academy Male Basketball Team. The team was en route to compete in regional championships when the accident occurred, leaving several students and teachers injured.
Officials report that multiple individuals suffered cuts, fractures, and other serious injuries. Of those affected, three students and one teacher require urgent CT scans, with one student needing as many as eight. These scans are critical for assessing the severity of their injuries and determining next steps in their treatment.
The Caye Caulker Village Council has already funded some of the medical expenses but says more financial support is urgently needed. The council is appealing for donations to help cover medical costs. Contributions can be made to Atlantic Bank account 100 073 949, under the name “Caye Caulker Village Council,” with donations marked as “Assistance for Students.”
For updates, residents are encouraged to follow announcements from the Caye Caulker Village Council Facebook page.
