By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Health and Wellness is investigating the misappropriation of $10,000 in funds from the Southern Regional Hospital (SRH). Minister of Health Kevin Bernard confirmed the launch of the investigation but declined to provide further details, citing ongoing legal proceedings.
The Ministry initiated the probe after receiving reports of financial irregularities. According to Bernard, one individual has already been charged in connection with the theft. However, he refrained from discussing specifics, emphasizing that the matter is now before the courts.
“There was an allegation, and we immediately started an investigation,” Bernard said. “It’s now in the hands of the police and the courts. Once the legal process unfolds, we will provide a clearer response.”
The Ministry has assured the public that measures are being taken to prevent future incidents of this nature.
