By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans woke up to another day of wet weather as Tropical Depression Nadine continues to impact the country. The National Meteorological Service is forecasting cloudy skies with sunny breaks, but warns that scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms, and periods of light rain will develop across most areas throughout the day.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution on the roads and be aware of potential ponding and reduced visibility. Residents in coastal and northern areas should be particularly vigilant tonight, as heavier showers and thunderstorms are expected. The risk of localized flooding remains elevated.
Tropical Depression Nadine, currently located 80 miles east of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Mexico, is the driving force behind this unsettled weather pattern. Though not projected to directly impact Belize, the depression is feeding moisture into the atmosphere, contributing to the ongoing rainfall.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Oscar, with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph, is churning in the Caribbean Sea southwest of Great Inagua Island. Forecasters are closely monitoring Oscar’s path, but it currently poses no direct threat to Belize.
Despite the rain, temperatures remain warm, with highs of 84°F (29°C) along the coast and 85°F (29°C) inland. The National Meteorological Service advises that similar weather conditions are expected to persist through Monday.
Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for updates from the National Meteorological Service and Belize Live News for the latest information on rainfall, potential flooding, and any changes in the tropical systems.
