Belize expands biodiversity protection zone in line with Blue Bond Agreement

By Belize Live News Staff: As part of its commitment to marine conservation, Cabinet approved the expansion of Belize’s Biodiversity Protection Zone to 25% of its marine space. This marks a key milestone under the Belize Blue Bond Agreement signed in 2021.

The Agreement mandates Belize to protect 30% of its total ocean space by 2030. The Cabinet’s decision to expand the zone reflects the country’s dedication to safeguarding marine biodiversity and fulfilling its international environmental obligations.
