By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans woke up to another beautiful day with sunshine and partly cloudy skies, but the calm weather may be short-lived.
Forecasters at the National Meteorological Service are keeping a close eye on a disturbance brewing in the Gulf of Mexico that has a high chance of developing into a tropical storm or depression later today or Sunday. This potential storm threatens to bring increased rainfall and thunderstorms, especially to northern and coastal regions by Sunday night.
While this new system poses the most immediate threat, Belize is also monitoring two hurricanes currently active in the Atlantic. Hurricane Leslie, although far off in the Atlantic and moving away from Belize, is a powerful reminder of the unpredictable nature of these storms. Closer to home, Hurricane Kirk, a major hurricane with winds reaching 125 mph, is churning through the Atlantic and bears watching.
Despite the looming tropical trouble, today promises to be pleasant with temperatures climbing to a high of 90°F along the coast and a scorching 94°F inland. Seas will remain calm, offering perfect conditions for those wanting to enjoy the water. However, residents are urged to stay informed about weather updates and be prepared for a potential shift in conditions as the weekend progresses.
The National Meteorological Service will continue to provide updates and advisories as the situation evolves.
