By Belize Live News Staff: Good morning, Belize! Get ready for a day of sunshine mixed with a few showers as moist and somewhat unstable conditions prevail across the country. The National Met Service predicts sunny skies with some cloudy spells, and while most of the country will see just isolated showers, those inland can expect a few showers and isolated thunderstorms developing this afternoon.
Tonight, things could get a bit wetter, with partly cloudy skies becoming cloudy at times. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop over the south and some coastal areas tonight and into tomorrow morning.
While the coast enjoys highs of 90°F (32°C), those inland will feel the heat a bit more with temperatures reaching 94°F (34°C). If you’re heading to the hills, expect a more comfortable 80°F (27°C). No matter where you are, be prepared for possible showers, especially if you’re venturing inland this afternoon.
Out in the Atlantic, we’re keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Leslie and Hurricane Kirk. As of 3:00 am, Leslie was located about 645 miles west-southwest of the Southernmost Cabo Verde Islands, moving west at a leisurely 6 mph with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.
Hurricane Kirk, packing a much bigger punch with 145 mph winds, was situated about 1010 miles east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands, moving northwest at 10 mph.
For now, neither storm poses a direct threat to Belize, but we’ll be monitoring their progress closely and bringing you the latest updates.
Looking ahead to the weekend, expect cloudy spells with isolated showers and thunderstorms, especially inland during the afternoon and in the south at night.
Boaters, take note! East-southeasterly winds of 5-10 knots will make for slight sea conditions with waves of 1-3 feet.
We’ll keep you updated on any weather developments throughout the day. Stay tuned to Belize Live News for the latest information on Tropical Storms Leslie and Kirk and any potential impact on Belize.
