By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Government Lotteries Limited (BGL) on Monday issued a public notice warning against the unauthorized use of its logo in advertisements promoting government lottery sales via WhatsApp.
According to the notice, individuals have been soliciting lottery players to send their chosen numbers, number of pieces, and proof of online payment through WhatsApp. A picture of the ticket is then sent to the player. The BGL emphasized that this method of lottery sales is not sanctioned by the organization.
“We vehemently oppose and disassociate ourselves from any individual offering such services,” the BGL said, adding that without an official printed ticket, the redemption of any prize winnings cannot be guaranteed.
The public is urged to remain cautious and to only engage with authorized lottery retailers.
